Capital City Stealth Dominate the Michigan Lions 58-6

The defending 2014 USFA AA National Champions were back in full form as they dominated the Michigan Lions at Dansville High School’s Fuller Field and their fifth straight conference win. The Capital City Stealth (5-3 conf / 7-3 overall) clinched a spot in the GLFL playoffs with a victory that displayed their offensive and defensive firepower.

Early on in the first half it was evident that the game would be completely controlled by the Stealth. With an early interception by Ervin Milton and an explosive touchdown run by Deshawn Thompson the Stealth had the early momentum. The second quarter was much like the first as they continued to put points up on the board in bunches and went into the locker room with a 30-6 first half lead.

The second half began with the always-electric Leroy Green returning the opening kick for a touchdown. Green found himself in the endzone two more times in the 3rd quarter alone, completing the trifecta. With a 58-6 lead late in the 4th quarter the Stealth had a little fun and gave longtime star lineman Kevin Meeks a few handoffs for a 1st down in his last game before he moves to Texas.

Offensively, it seemed as though everyone got a crack at the endzone. Deshawn Thompson, Demetrius Addision, Rodney Hodges, and Jordan Taylor all had touchdowns on the ground. In the passing attack Herb Brown and Leroy Green both scored touchdowns and 7 different receivers had at least one reception. In terms of yardage, Addision lead the way rushing with 97 yards while Damon Young had 46 yards passing.

On the defensive side of the ball the Stealth were unrelenting and overpowering. David Culham had 4 tackles and one fumble recovery while Delorean Strickland had 5 tackles and one sack. If it weren’t for one drive late in the first half, the Stealth would have shut out this Lions team who had no answer for the speed and strength of their defense.

Next week the Stealth travel to Kalamazoo play the West Michigan Tigers, who they defeated just two weeks ago. With a win next week and a Lakeshore Cougars loss the Stealth would clinch the 3rd seed and a first round bye. Watch our website for all updates regarding the playoffs.
