In this video we got to interview multiple doctors about their thoughts on It’s a Breast Thing and get their input on why it is such a necessary non-profit in our community.
It’s a Breast Thing‘s mission is to enrich the lives of local breast cancer patients on their journey to better health.
In this first edition of the new Behind the Camera series, we journey back to 2002 and a video we produced for Hip Hop Outreach. Hip Hop Outreach was the company built by my friend, David Scherer who is also known as the Christian rapper, Agape. He released a new album at that time that was extremely personal and had a three camera interview diving into the ins and outs of the album recorded. He approached me to assemble that video and not only was it a needed project for me due to personal struggles I was going through at the time, but it is still to this day, my most nationally recognized project of all time. This is a video we produced for the Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness. They are a great organization that connects with extremely low income individuals and encourages them to participate in the voting process.
The Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness is dedicated to creating a sustainable statewide voice and the infrastructure and systemic change needed to empower communities to end homelessness.
One of the things that our owner, Paul, prides himself on is the processes he has implemented to make sure everyone is on the same page. He started incorporating tools over the years that improved communication, project management, task management the calendar and the cloud. Not only that, he’s always looking for new tools to improve our systems.
This really became extra crucial especially when suffered a stroke that put him out of commission for a month and half. It allowed no slow downs with his team, clients and projects and even allowed one of his colleagues who subbed for him while he was out to get caught up fast.
However, it’s still not a perfect system, and human fallibility is still a thing, but that’s another story for another time.

This was one of two client story videos that we did for The Tri-County Office on Aging. Shylah is an amazing lady with a story that needed to be told. The Tri-County Office on Aging isn’t just there to help older people, it is there to help all people age gracefully, regardless of who they are.
Tri-County Office on Aging‘s mission is to promote and preserve the independence and dignity of the aging population.

The Firecracker Foundation is a client that is near and dear to our hearts. This video was shot entirely in a day where the Executive Director put out a call for volunteers and anyone who showed up got recorded. It was a great turnout for a great crowd, and we love doing all things video for The Firecracker Foundation.
The Firecracker Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides holistic healing services for children who have experienced sexual trauma.
This is a fundraising video we did for Hospice of Lansing and Stoneleigh Residence that was part of larger fundraising campaign in which they distributed the video in brochures with a built in video screen. In the video, a couple of their clients relay the awesome services they provided them and the incredible care given during a difficult time. They are a remarkable cause in Lansing and the surrounding area that exists to help with all aspects of Hospice in home care, as well as having their own facility.
It’s a new year, a new semester, so a new intern. Meet Arthur Russell, a transplant from the east coast to Cassopolis, Michigan. As with all of us, Arthur is a huge film fan and looks forward to working within the storytelling aspect of video making while he’s here. It seems he chose his internship wisely.
In his own words: “It was always just as cool to see the amazing things was on screen just emotionally impactful and really just the aspiring stories that were being told and I wanted to be a part of that in some way.”
