Uno.Deuce.. Productions Does First Video Training Camp
UnoDeuce Production held their first video training session for high school youth this past August 4-9 at Camp Michi-lu-ca for their annual Leadership Training School. The session was set up as four hour and a half workshops in the afternoon, capping off with showing what they have done at a “Show of Gifts” on Thursday evening. The Dean of the school, Pastor Will Stenke, was more than ecstatic on having the workshop as part of the camp, “It was huge! Within the first day the workshop filled up. The kids that were a part of it were really into it.”

UnoDeuce’s production director Paul Schmidt and website/multimedia developer Spencer Ludban lead the workshop which consisted of basic camera, shooting and editing techniques and visual storytelling. Paul, no stranger to leading workshops himself from his previous time working with Evergreen Youth Television, was very pleased with the out come. “I was concerned with the lack of time we had that we wouldn’t be able to get the depth that video has to offer, but the kids did a great job of listening and applying what they learned in a short amount of time and they got the job done.”

The results of the workshop created digitally using Canon GL-1 cameras and edited on Macs using iMovie, were two videos , one as a promotional for LTS and the other a faux infomercial for “Spray Away Clean,” completely conceived by the kids and shown for the camp. So all in all it was a complete success for the camp and the kids themselves. “I think it was great,” says Stenke, “In terms of LTS I hope it remains a part of it. Kids are very much into playing with video, and this shows how [video] can make a direct connection with their faith and can apply to church. I was very pleased.”
